Just a short note to tell you what a wonderful job all of the guides and drivers did to make our Italy trip so enjoyable. For every single appointment we were met on time by our guides and/or drivers and since punctuality is a big deal with me I was very pleased. I would rate all of the guides an A as they were extremely knowledgeable. Special kudos to Daniella whom we toured with in Venice – San Marco on May 18th and Mariana (sub for Maria Elena Fanti) whom we toured Florence with on May 20th. Both of them spoke very good English and had a very warm and friendly personality. We absolutely loved Sorrento and the Amalfi coast and I am really glad we added the day trip to Cinque Terre. Two unplanned special events occurred while we were there – first was the earthquake on May 20th at 4:00 am in the morning while we were on the 14th floor of the Florence Hilton Metrople (we swayed quite a bit for at least a minute) and prior to our tour of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome we were able to see the Pope as he made an appearance at a large gathering in St. Peter’s Square. Also it was a nice touch having Andrea Mola at the Rome airport for our trip home as we had some issues with the size and weight of our bags. He was able to help us through some anxious moments.
