People who are planning to travel to Tuscany often wonder what the best time to travel in Tuscany is. This recurrent question does not receive only one answer.  As one year has four seasons, Tuscany can be visited during all the seasons as it offers something to do or see all year long.

Spring is a very romantic season, especially if you visit the countryside and the many medieval hill towns as San Gimignano, Volterra, Cortona, Pitigliano and Radda in Chianti and have the opportunity to see the wonderful sceneries Tuscany offers. The Tuscan hills inspired many artists and are still inspiring today. You can easily find poetry when looking at the landscapes at this time of the year. Hills present a variety of green that goes from tender green through olive green to dark green, with the flowering phase started and you can enjoy the blended colors of poppies and growing wheat.

Summer is the season you can combine a little bit of cultural visits in Art cities with relaxing time at the beach. Tuscany is located on the Italian West coast on the beautiful Medeiterranean Sea. There are great beaches in Viareggio, San Vincenzo, Castiglion della Pescaia, Castiglioncello, Marina di Massa, Follonica,  There are also scenic cliffs and off the coast the  islands Isola d’Elba, Isola del Giglio.  There are also stylish resort areas such as Forte dei Marmi, Punta Ala, Talamone and Porto Santo Stefano.

Fall in Tuscany offers visitors new colors. Even if Mediterranean cypresses keep their dark green, vines are taking  their autumnal colors; from green they become gold, orange and red.  This is grape harvest season so its a great time to visit wineries and other speciality productions such as cheese.    This is also the season of the mushrooms, truffles chestnuts and Olive Oil (November). Road to Italy private tours to Chianti hills,  Val d’Orcia, Montalcino and Montepulciano offer many opportunities to taste some of the delicious specialities of the season.

Winter is also included as a best time to travel in Tuscany. Discover the main monuments and museums in the cities of Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo or allow yourself for a relaxing moment in a beautiful spa in a luxury country resort. Also for lovers of sport activities at just one and half hour driving from Florence, Tuscany offers nice skiing destination at Mt. Abetone with more than 50 km of slopes.
