The Ruins of Pompeii and Sorrento
You will be taken from the Naples port to the fascinating archeological sight at Pompeii. The ride will take 45 minute by car. The ruins of Pompeii are indeed worthy of their place as one of the great Wonders of the World. The eruption of the volcano Mt. Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D buried the city and left it forgotten for hundreds of years. Excavations for unearthing archeological treasures that bring a sense of wonder to visitors began in the 18th century and are still being carried out today. Your private guide will lead you slowly through some of the ancient streets of Pompeii, throughout the city you will see Baths, Forums and Villas built by the prosperous Romans in the year 80 B.C. against the backdrop of the impressive Mount Vesuvius. Once you have completed your tour of Pompeii, you will continue your tour with a nice drive to the Sorrentine Peninsula and its main town Sorrento. In Sorrento you will have some time at leisure to explore this very charming town and its panoramic terraces on your own. You can sit in one of the beautiful bar of Piazza Tasso and watch the world go by. In the afternoon you will return to the Naples port.
